Submission guidelines

In order to facilitate participation in the Forum and promote the attendance of researchers and professionals from different territorial contexts, 40 grants will be awarded to non-residents of Melilla to cover transportation and accommodation expenses. The amount of the grants will be up to €400 gross. Priority will be given to those who have never previously received a Forum grant and who are presenting a paper (the grant will be awarded exclusively to the person delivering the presentation at the Forum, not to all co-authors of the paper) or who participate in the Doctoral Colloquium (see page 4 for more information). Requirements to apply for funding:

  1. Register between March 23 and June 1, 2026, attaching proof of payment of the registration fee (this deadline cannot be extended as it is established in the call for grants) and submit the full paper.
  2. Submit the funding application. Applications must be submitted through the Generic Application procedure of the UGR Electronic Registry (https://sede.ugr.es/procs/Solicitud-genericapara-la-UGR/). The application must be addressed to the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Melilla. Applications not submitted through this procedure cannot be processed. Regulations require submission of a certificate of residence registration to verify non-resident status in Melilla, proof of registration payment, and a sworn declaration stating that the applicant is not subject to any of the situations preventing eligibility for public grants as set out in Article 13 of Law 38/2003 on General Subsidies (declaration template: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19MbknknslWgBX2fnt8xuS0QHJVFAXq0x/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=111855876402064446317&rtpof=true&sd=true). Failure to provide the required documentation will result in exclusion.
  3. Attend at least 80% of the Forum sessions.

Those who register after June 1 will not be eligible for the Forum grant, but they may apply for the tourist voucher offered by the Autonomous City of Melilla, which provides discounts of up to 75% on transportation and accommodation (https://bonosmelilla.es).

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Papers addressing tourism from an analytical and applied perspective are invited. The deadlines are as follows:

  • From March 23 to June 1 if applying for Forum funding.
  • From June 2 to July 31 without applying for Forum funding.

Papers, in Spanish or English, must be submitted using the designated template (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uNyUxxb7VJWEOIj8FSrOKyijN715JWcn/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=111 915061532881922949&rtpof=true&sd=true), with a minimum of 3,500 words, through the following link: https://forms.gle/wqantnAkga5xgp2s6

Each author may participate in a maximum of three papers. Attendance at 80% of the Forum will be mandatory in order to receive a certificate of paper presentation.

Submitted papers will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee according to academic criteria of quality, methodological rigor, and thematic relevance, and each will be assigned a score between 1 and 10. In order to facilitate proper organization of the scientific sessions, papers receiving higher scores will be considered full presentations, which will entail more presentation time and a Q&A session, while those receiving lower scores will be considered communications, with shorter presentation time and no Q&A session. The final allocation of times and sessions will be determined according to academic and organizational criteria, depending on the total number of accepted papers.

To have priority for grants, it will be necessary to submit the final version of the paper or the thesis project summary in the case of participation in the Doctoral Colloquium.
